THE STORY OF AN IMMIGRANT
In 1845, a young Joseph Nöltner and wife Rosina left the hardships of Baden, Germany behind them, and boarded a ship bound for the other side of the world. They were looking for a place of peace and opportunity in a rugged young country. Six weeks later, they arrived in the quiet valley known as Indian Springs along the Ohio River where they settled in, and carved seven family farms from oak and rock. But nothing came easy. Joe lost Rosina, but remarried and eventually fathered 17 children in all, working tirelessly to provide for them. Today, our lineage honors Old Joe’s determination, bravery and grit. His legacy is the iron will of an immigrant – born in Germany, strengthened in America, and spread throughout Kentucky like a peavine covers a pasture fence. Here’s to Joe.
